Junior Archivist Afterschool Camp

Young people step into the archive as history makers, learning to handle photographs, ephemera, and family stories with care and curiosity. Across the season they catalogue, interview, and create, then share what they find in a public showcase that proves the next generation of keepers is already here.

Save Philly Festivals Pop-Up Exhibit

This traveling exhibit brings the color, sound, and memory of Philadelphia’s festivals into schools and community rooms before those gatherings fade from the calendar. Youth meet posters, flyers, and oral histories up close, then add their own neighborhood stories to a living record of the City of Festivals.

Collecting African American History Show & Tell

Students bring an object, a photograph, or a family saying and learn how everyday things become primary sources. Guided by the spirit of Collecting and Sharing African American History, the session turns show-and-tell into a first lesson in preservation, pride, and public memory.

Archives & Vibes Arts Education Workshop

Archives meet rhythm, color, and making in a hands-on workshop where primary sources spark zines, collages, and performance. Youth leave knowing that research can feel like a vibe—and that the Montgomery Collection belongs in their hands, not only behind glass.
